What is a Career Coach?

Posted on August 8, 2021 under Coaching

what does a career coach do?

Who are you to tell me what to do?

While most prospective clients are not that direct, I’m familiar with many iterations of this question.

And I’m not offended – many people are skeptical of coaching or have been unsatisfied with career coaches in the past.

After coaching everyone from a summer intern to a 7-figure Wall Street exec, I’ve heard it all.

Here are my responses to the most common doubts job-seekers have about enlisting me as their career coach:

– Do you have any “real world” work experience?

I myself come from the corporate world and made a big shift from PR to coaching.

My background enables me to empathize with my clients’ experiences,

– How is The Truth at Work different from other career coaching programs?

Multiple clients have complained about other coaches not being dedicated or insightful enough to help in their search.

They then found success in my program.

– What makes a good coach?

Qualified coaches are educated in coaching and have a certification or advanced degree to show for it.

They will also have experience being coached – no one wants to buy from the “cobbler with no shoes.”

The best coaches give honest feedback while making the process fun.
