I've noticed a scary trend lately. And it makes me sad.

So many of my clients do not know or own their professional worth.

I see resumes that do not appropriately represent what they bring to the corporate table. I hear conversations that do not positively highlight the skills and attributes employers absolutely will pay top dollar to hire.

What's the result of playing small or talking smack about yourself?

You guessed it; more of the same…staying stuck in your role, feeling frustrated by the employment search, and clinging to your freshly repeated evidence that you really are “correct” about how “bad you are.”

What is fueling this epidemic of undervaluing our worth in the marketplace and what can we do to upgrade our self presentation?

Here are 3 tips to give your self-worth an immediate raise.

  1. Eliminate negative self talk.

This can be a huge challenge. If it feels too overwhelming to be 100% positive, start with banning negative self talk you verbally share with others.

  1. Gather positive facts.

Ask 3 people to tell you 3 good things about you and write them down. How can you integrate these skills and accomplishments in your job hunt?

  1. Keep a gratitude journal.

Every day find at least one thing you are grateful for – even if you have to stretch to the most mundane – because it quickly reframes your life situation.

And one bonus tip to inspire you…

You and only you are the author of the story of your life.

Decide to rewrite your story TODAY.
